“You’re right,” Paxy sighed as she examined the Runedex with the Crabit pulled up. “A Crabit that’s predominantly yellow is a bit rare. They also make decent water elemental types, so I bet he won’t be on my shelf for a week.”

“Does that mean you’re interested?”

“I could let you keep this,” she sang and lifted the Runedex she lent him higher.

“I actually found another one, so you can have that back,” he grumbled with an apologetic smile. “Sorry. Thanks for letting me borrow it though.”

“Damn, I was hoping you’d make a trade. Uhm…I suppose I could give you 400cr for it. I mean, you’d make more online, but…”

“Yeah, count what’s in your hand,” he replied with a nod before he remembered what else was in the satchel. “Oh, I also have twenty manarite…”

“Thank the gods,” she groaned and held out her hands so he could dump the orbs into them from his bag. “We were down to our last five. You have no idea how much I appreciate this.”

His account didn’t feel her appreciation, not when the transaction only left him 2,000cr richer. Still, he was close to 7K, so he forced a smile once the transactions were complete.

“So, how’s it going with your Graven? You find a buyer for it yet?”

His eyes tried to widen on instinct, but he managed to catch himself before Paxy looked up from her tablet. “I think I’m going to keep her. Seems a bit silly to run around the wilderness with only one Spawnmon. You uh…oh, shoot, that reminds me. Have you ever heard of any hunters getting stuck inside the battle dome?”

“No,” she laughed and looked up, only to have her smile melt when she saw the look on his face. “Oh, gods, you’re serious, aren’t you? Did that actually happen to you?”

“It did. Not only was I trapped inside, but the dome put me in a six-on-two situation.”

“You and the Graven, or…”

“I didn’t count myself, actually. It was Graven and Frobear against six Hunmons.”

“Ew, I hate those things,” she replied in disgust. “I can’t even stand the ten sitting on my shelf over there. Thinking about getting stung when the stinger is the size of your finger is just….”

Paxy shuddered and held out her arms to shake off her nerves before she could compose herself. Gil couldn’t blame her, not when talking about them filled his ears with their buzzing hums.

“So?”

“Oh, sorry,” she laughed with a red-cheeked smirk. “Nope, can’t say I ever heard of anyone getting stuck inside a battle dome. Having more than two Spawnmons in a battle happens though. It’s rare, but if someone’s Spawnmon makes a challenge while being challenged by another…”

“Yeah, I get the picture,” he muttered while staring down at the container of manarite orbs. “So, how many more orbs do I have to bring in before you talk to your dad for me?”

“I don’t know…” she sang with a teasing smirk. “I never get to talk to anyone my own age anymore. I’ve got to say it’s nice having someone around I know.
